Southwest Colorado Hot Springs
The Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs is one of only three properties that have hot springs on their premises. The hot springs here consists of four redwood spas terraced on the mountainside behind the lodge and are available for guests only. These hot springs spas are maintained at temperatures between 103 and 108 degrees and are open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
In addition to the hot springs here, there are several other Southwest Colorado hot springs in the vicinity. The City of Ouray offers a 250- by 150-foot public pool containing over a million gallons of natural hot springs water. In addition to several soaking sections, at a variety of temperatures ranging from 96 to 106 degrees, the pool has a lap-swimming section, a diving area and a game area for water volleyball. The crystal-clear water, free from the strong smell of sulfur typical of many hot springs in other areas, makes the hot springs at the Box Canyon Lodge and at the Ouray Hot Springs Pool more enjoyable and extremely popular with visitors from around the world.
In the summertime, the Ouray Hot Springs pool has 2 waterslides that are open and included with admission. However, sliders must be at least 48 inches tall to meet the requirements of the city insurance policy.
For those people looking for another soaking hot springs, Orvis Hot Springs, 9 miles north of Ouray in Ridgway, is a lovely facility that is a nude & clothing optional natural hot springs. It is a very natural setting and the pools sit in the valley floor with fantastic views of the surrounding mesas.
