The hotel is known for the medicinal mineral hot springs that percolate out of the hillside behind the hotel and is captured in 7 red cedar tubs before it empties into the Uncompahgre River across the street from the hotel. Ouray, Colorado is a historic mining town located on the Million Dollar Highway in southwest Colorado. It sits in a natural rock amphitheater and is so beautiful it is often called the Switzerland of America. Ouray was incorporated in October of 1876 and named for Chief Ouray of the Ute Indian tribe. Since the incorporation of Ouray people have been drawn to the town for its numerous mineral hot springs and magnificent setting.
